Why is Plant Oil an Ideal Health Choice?

Vegetable oils are usually extracted from different plants, especially from seeds. Like most fats, oils help convert food to taste and can be used in cooking. There are many varieties of vegetable oils today and there seems to be no end in sight. Local supermarkets today have a variety of oils that you can buy because they are readily available.

One obvious thing is how easy it is to find refined vegetable oils, not cold pressed and fresh. However, such oils are added to processed food. Some of them are also included in cosmetics and cleaning products.

Vegetable oils are not the same when it comes to health benefits. Some have more features than others. There are some considerations that you have to make, such as how the oil was first produced. Usually seed oils are first exposed to very high temperatures and in some cases harsh chemicals are introduced. As a result, oil loses some of the nutrients that should be good for our body.

The crude oils are ground and centrifuged to separate the oil and seeds. Extra virgin oils usually have to meet very strict chemical composition and purity criteria.

When buying vegetable oil, you need to consider how much it actually is in its original form. In most cases, when refining oils are created, they have to do different things. This includes milling, bleaching, deodorizing, cleaning, high temperature refining, chemical modification and so on.

Most vegetable oils are in liquid form and almost never in solid form. When the weather is cloudy and cold, the oil can become cloudy. The exceptions to this rule are coconut and some butter because of the fairly saturated fat. If you notice that the oil is solid, it may be a sign that it has been chemically altered, especially by hydrogenation.

Generally, fats that are refined contain trans fats. This occurs during processing. You have noticed that most vegetable oils contain a very high amount of omega 3, so you should use them instead of improved variants.

Most Popular Plants With High Omega 3:

  • Linen seeds
  • Hemp seed
  • Pumpkin seed
  • Walnut seed

The higher content of monounsaturated oil is:

  • Olive
  • Almonds
  • Avocado seed
  • The palm
  • Nuts

Plants with more saturated oils include:

  • Raw palm
  • Unrefined coconut

The reason why you should avoid commercial baking oils is that they contain more omega 6. It is always worth choosing an oil that satisfies your need for omega fatty acids. There are some that can offer omega 3, 6 and 9 which are crucial for health, wellness and vitality. They are better than flax and fish. It is always useful to know about the oil you intend to use.
